This bass guitar chord chart is intended for solo bassists who want playable chord shapes that work on the instrument. These are not just theoretical chord spellings or arpeggio studies; they are voicings meant to be played as chords on bass guitar.

For solo bass playing, chords are especially important because the bass has to carry more of the music by itself. A single chord can imply harmony, support a melody, create movement between sections, or give a solo arrangement a fuller sound. Learning usable major, minor, dominant, diminished, and extended voicings gives a bassist more ways to accompany melodies and compose complete pieces on the instrument.

Because the bass sits in a lower register, chord voicing matters. Clear solo bass chords often depend on spacing, register, and choosing only the notes that define the harmony. A well-placed third, seventh, or extension can say more than a dense shape that sounds muddy. Use these chord forms as starting points, then experiment with moving them to different areas of the neck and listening for the voicings that speak clearly on your bass.

The goal is to make harmony physically available on the bass guitar: chords you can hold, move, connect, and use musically in solo bass compositions.
